Born in 1950, Melinda Voss grew up amid dinner table conversations about the Cuban revolution in 1958 and beyond. Fascinated by this colorful country, she used her journalistic skills honed in a 26-year career at The Des Moines Register during a March 2014 trip to make sense of it in her soon-to-be published e-book, “Mango Cuba: What I Discovered About America's Neighbor.”
